Adult meals/babyfood safe meals?

Ok, so my daughter is at that inbetween age where she doesnt have enough teeth for finger food, but hates baby food. I have a baby food processor, but Ive run out of recipes to try!
We have been just processing what I cook for dinner and she loves it, but not all recipes grind up well in the processor, like chicken, some cuts of pork, etc.
She loves everything except carrots, has no aversion to any spices, and no allergies.
Any recipe suggestions that the whole family can eat and I can grind up for her?
She has a very sensitive gag reflex, and saltine crackers can set it off, which is why Im mostly looking for food I can grind up. She can eat the Gerber Graduates finger foods, but everything else we’ve tried hasnt gone over well.

She should be able to do small amounts of mashed potatoes, anything you can eat that is soft. My son loves vienna susages and those are soft enough to gum or teeth on depending on the age of the child. Anything you can mush is something she will love. Just go slow and ease her into it.

Try spaghetti, and other noodle dishes. Usually when you cook noodles, and then bake them in a casserole (like lasagna or tuna noodle) everything becomes squishy enough for the little ones to eat. Just be sure you give her things that are age appropriate in texture, size and such!

Macaroni and Cheese is good, stuffing and chicken, rice, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn. Anything she can mash or pick up with her fingers.

My son loves salmon (and most other fish I’ve tried him on – just make sure the mercury content is low), grilled cheese sandwiches cut up into tiny pieces, pasta, sweet peas (I recommend the frozen ones, cooked for a couple minutes and then cooled)…oh, mashed potatoes went over really well, too. Small broccoli florets are good, too, provided they’re cooked long enough to be really soft.

My general rule of thumb is that if it’s soft enough that I can mash it between my fingers, it’s okay for my son.

    Hope this helps. :)

just because she doesnt have teeth doesnt mean you cant give her finger food, my son was 4 months when i started finger food, i would give him half a rusk to suck on and he loved it, they are designed to dissolve quickly so babies dont choke! try bread crusts as a finger food too, she’ll love it and it helps her co-ordination! you can pretty much give them whatever you are eating, i found chicken ground up well in the processor just make sure it is well cooked and should just crumble in the processor! Good Luck

At 8 months, she should be able to feed herself your food.

They don’t use thier teeth to chew, they use thier back gums, so teeth are irrelevant.

Just steam your veggies extra well and put different things in front of her.

She may gag a few times… its completely normal, she just has to readjust her gag reflex and learn how to chew solid food.

My son loved broccolli, green beans, peas, potatoes… even artichoke hearts, at that age.
He doesn’t like carrots either… whats wrong with these kids?!

I would recommend fruit smoothies there is a great recipe on the back of the Splenda artificial sweetener box that I prepare for the one year old and two year old I babysit. They call it banana milk they absolutely love it. Also we feed them cottage cheese, macaroni, sweet potato casserole, yogurt (only if they are one or older), refried beans, pudding, and green bean casserole (also good in the blender).

Just let her eat what you eat, only try and add variety and color to your meals. If the chicken doesn’t blend well, try buying ground chicken, like the kind they use for chicken burgers and see if that works for her. Otherwise just stick to what you have been doing and stay away from the things you know she doesn’t like and that choke her like crackers. You are doing just fine. My mom never did Gerber or anything like that, we pretty much went from breast to fresh fruits and stuff, thrown in a blender and eventually we did exactly what you are doing (the same thing everyone is eating only processed/cut into smaller pieces).
