That’s funny! It’s more like, how long does your baby let YOU sleep? I can’t wait until mine is sleeping like that. How old is your son? If he’s older, his stomach is probably bigger, so he’s not going to be hungry as fast. I say if he’s breathing and looks content, don’t wake him….get some things done around the house or go back to sleep yourself.

My baby boy is 2 months old. For the last 15 days, he has developed a habit of sleeping all day and waking up all night. How can I trick him into sleep at night ?? Some innovative tips please.
If I wrap him with a blanket or any cloth, he accumulates sweat in his back and thighs

Your son has his nights and days confused. This is very common but very draining on the parents. All you need to do is keep him up as much as you can during the day. Both of my Children had this problem and I found if I kept them awake for as long as I could during the day they slept much better at night. SOme suggestions on keeping them awake during the day is to 1. limit how long their naps are only let them sleep for an hour AT THE Most 2. When they do wake up keep them up for hours at a time…this may seem hard to do but all you have to do is little things such as talkign to your infant changing their diaper, clothing, change their position etc

you can gets some stuff for baby’s called snuffle babe, it’s like Vick’s vapo rub, but for babies, or you could try putting some olbus oil in some warm water in his room at night or you could try carvol that you put on his bed.

My baby is 2 months old and they say their sleeping pattern should be better now but i haven’t had a good nights sleep because she’s awake. She sleeps during the day and when it hits around 12 am she doesnt sleep. She gets sleepy and she does fall asleep but like after 10, 15 minutes, she wakes up. Its really tiring me out. No matter how much I swaddle her she doesnt sleep. How do I make her sleep?

We used the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby", by Marc Weissbluth. It was a godsend! It helped us establish nighttime sleep habits, as well as a nap schedule for the day. Lots of information, but an easy read.

My son is going to be three months old tomorrow and he still doesnt sleep through the night. He goes to sleep around 6:30pm and gets up at 12am, 4am, and 7am. Ive tried waking him up and feeing him before I go to sleep but he always gets up at the same time as if he has a clock built in his brain! Ive heard that your baby should be sleeping through the night by 3 months old. What should I do? Should I put cereal in his bottle?

My daughter is also three months old. She’s been sleeping through the night since about 5 weeks old. I HIGHLY recommend the book called: On Becoming Baby Wise

I’m a new mother and this book has been a huge help in the sleep department! I have a friend and her son is 14 months old and she’s still getting up 5x a night with him. Ugh. I cant even imagine how awful that would be.

Anyway, the jist is this….make sure you and you baby have a routine. The book mentions this pattern to help you get your child on a schedule. Feed your child and THEN allow for playtime. Followed by a nap. Don’t feed your child to put him to sleep. This will help you establish good Feed/Wake/Sleep habits.

Also, if you want to try something I found online here’s a website:
www.thebabysleepcoach.com

My daughter is now 5 months old and she generally takes about 2-3 naps during the day, totalling 3-4 hours in all. I’ve noticed that sometimes at night she won’t want to go to bed if she has slept more than usual during the day. I realize that all babies differ as far as how much sleep they need and whether that interferes with their nighttime sleep but I am just curious how many naps your baby takes and for how long.

My 15 month old takes one 2-3 hour nap per day and has no problem sleeping at night.

Thanks in advance.

I have a 5 month old son and he take 2 to 3 naps a day about an hour to 2 or 3 hours each.He will usually go to bed around 730 at night, waking 2 or 3 times to feed and will be up at about 7 or 8 in the morning. His afternoon nap a few days ago he slept for 4 hours!! He got up at 6 and i was worried he would not go back down but he did and slept a normal night. It has only been the last couple of weeks i have been able to get him on this schedule, before if he napped lots through the day he wouldn’t go to sleep till 9 or 10 and even then he didnt want to go to bed!lol!!She should figure it out, good luck.

My 2 week old baby settles well at night at about 10 and sleeps for 3 and a half hours but then wakes 2 hours later for another feed and has trouble going back to sleep, then when I finally get him back to sleep he wakes again 2 hours later at around 5-6 am fully awake snd definitely not wanting to sleep anymore. He is then awake for about 4 hours happy and alert.
How can I get him to settle better st night and not wake up every 2 hours? I make sure he is awake in the evening and I don’t have lights on or talk at night.
He never cries he just is awake

I am really sorry to say this but my 1st used to wake up every 2 hours of a night for the 1st 4 weeks, and no it wasn’t colic or because he needed his bum changing, he was just a hungry baby, and he was another one that liked 5am..
My 2nd was a different story, he used to wake once a night..
My 1st slept through at 4 weeks and my 2nd slept through at 4 months.. There really isn’t much you can do, from what you are saying you are doing everything anyway..It won’t go on forever..
I wish you all the best.

I recently began putting my 7 month old daughter in her playpen in her room for naps and nighttime sleep, just to try to train her to sleep in it. This is because she refused to sleep in it before and wouldn’t nap at my mom’s when being babysat or when my husband and I would take her places. After the first day she caught on quick and has been sleeping in it for a whole week. She actually seems to sleep better in it than in her crib! With her crib she had been trying to yank the bumper off, and if I take the bumper off she smacks her head on the rails and gets her legs and arms stuck in the rails. Plus, she loses her pacificer through the rails and screams bloody murder until I come back in the room and give it to her. Having her in the playpen has eliminated these problems of the crib. Has anyone else had their baby sleep in a playpen? I worry that it may not be very comfy for her, but she seems to be sleeping great in it this past week. What do you think?

My last two children are only 14 months apart and my first two are 13 months apart, so my youngest has always slept in the playpen until the oldest one is ready to leave the crib for a big girl/boy bed. My playpen has the part that attaches on the top so it is like a bassinet. I just put a few extra blankets under the sheet for some extra padding. All of my babies love it! I don’t think it is a big deal. I just took my 3 month old out of the top part and started having her sleep in it like a normal playpen. I agree with you to, it is great when we travel her normal bed goes with us, so it is no problem!

I’m 33 weeks pregnant and am not planning on having my baby sleep in with us as I’m afraid I might squash the baby, the baby might fall out of the bed or the baby might get into bad habits and not want to sleep in a bed of it’s own.
A good point would be that you don’t have to get out of bed if the baby cries, but this isn’t enough to persuade me.
Opinions ladies?
Thanks x

I hardly ever put my baby in bed with me. Two reasons – first my husband was a wild sleeper. I was not afraid of myself rolling over on him, but my husband. Second – I would never get a good night sleep like that, I was always worried about my husband rolling over on the baby so I slept with one eye open almost.

This is what I learned to do and it worked well with both of my boys. When they woke up for their feeding, I would change the diaper first, then do the feeding. Normally by the time they were done feeding, they were almost back to sleep. My little ones ate fast and the whole process took less that 20 minutes.

A couple things I did do is I had the porta crib in the room with me for about 2 months then moved to his own room. Also I would put an night gown or pajama top in the crib with him. Not to where it would interfere with him or make him possibly smother himself, but just maybe lay him on top of the night gown like it was a blanket. It has your scent on it and the baby thinks it is you so they will go to sleep and stay asleep longer. Worked will with both of my boys.
