Does baby get nutrition first or mother?

i’m just curious, when your pregnant and you eat, does the baby get the food first or does the mother? like if you just ate a cracker does the baby get the cracker, do you, or is it equally split up… just wondering!

the baby doesnt really get the FOOD (ie cracker) just the neutrience from the food but even if the mom doesnt eat the baby will take neutrience from the mothers body so in all the mom gets the cracker and the baby gets the neutrience thats why its you are eating for 2…..you eat more so that you/the mother can get the neutrience that you/she needs to survive as well

    The baby doesn’t technically get the food, they just get nutrients from the food.

    First poster is right… baby doesn’t "eat the cracker", he gets the nutrients from the mother onces the mother has digested the food she eats. As far as that goes though, baby will take all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals he/she needs to develop–and if mom isn’t eating enough, she will be the one that comes up lacking in the end. That’s really the point of prenatal vitamins–to make sure that mom gets her share too!

    The baby gets nutrients from everything you eat. However, if the mother isn’t eating/getting enough of a certain type of nutrient, that nutrient will be pulled from the mother’s stores of it (if she has them). For example, the baby can get extra calcium from the mother if she isn’t taking in enough.

    The baby doesn’t get the food… per se. The baby will zap all the nutrients and vitamins from your body. That’s why it’s so important to eat healthy as soon as you’re able to eat. The first trimester can be hard, but keep up with your prenatals. The reason why women suffer from bone loss, muscle loss, and teeth problems when pregnant is because the baby is taking everything from you! Keep up a good diet!

    The baby takes nutrients from your body. It doesn’t matter if you eat or not, the baby still takes. So when you eat a cracker, you get all of it, and then your body breaks it down and the baby just gets nutrients.

    Your body will provide for the baby first. Example: If you don’t drink enough calcium your baby’s bones will still be fine as it will take it straight from your bones and you will probably end up with osteoperosis when you get older. Its important to eat healthy when you are pregnant for YOUR sake. As long as you are not malnutritioned or starving, the baby will be fine.

    Baby gets the nutrients first. And as a matter of fact, if you’re not getting enough the baby will take it from your body.
