On average how many times does a newborn wake up during the night? Do you feed your baby each time the baby wakes up at night? I don’t have much experience with babies but I’m 21 weeks pregnant with a baby girl.
Every baby is different and while some sleep for hours on end other wake up ever couple of hours. If baby wakes up hungry then yes you feed her. Most likely your baby girl will be waking up to eat. Baby stomachs are as big as a marble therefore need to be feed constantly. Don’t worry that you have no experience with babies, when your daughter gets here you will know what to do. Being a mommy comes natural. Trust me I had no training and manage to survive as many as other moms have for many years. Congrats on your baby girl!

Most newborns wake up three times a night. That usually tapers off to twice as they get closer to 2 months. After that, some sleep through, some wake up once. When counting a night as 11pm to 7am. My son is not one of the sleepers…he is up three times at 2.5 months. I get up and feed him, since thats why he is waking right now. As he grows he doesn’t likely need to be fed quite as much. Formula fed newborns often wake less often than breastfed babies. It is because formula is harder to digest than breastmilk and keeps the baby fuller longer.

Generally, babies will wake up every 2 hours for a feeding and diaper change. YES you must feed them and change them before they will go back to sleep.

my son has always been a good sleeper. Since his birth i had to wake him every 4hrs for feeds for the first month.
After that i let him sleep, and he has slept 12-14hrs a night ever since.

I had a baby last january. At first he had a little jaundice, so I was told to wake and feed him at least every 3 hours. I breastfed and he ate more like every 2 hours. After our first appointment at the Dr’s I was told it was ok to let him sleep in the night. He slept about 6 hours at night after 2 months and other wise was fed every 3 hours until I was done breastfeeding at 5 months. Then we moved to 4 hours with formula.
