oil in babyfood?

everybody in germany recommends to put 1 teaspoon or so in babyfood (selfcooked, jars…), the doctors, all the babybooks, all the recipes on the internet, all the baby cook books…
reason is so that the fat in the food comes out…which is important for the baby to get all the vitamins he needs, sorry, don’t know how to explain it in a better english.
i asked my pediatritian here in the us, and he said, no its not necessary, it could go back to the lungs. but somehow i know its right what they in germany do and say in this matter. still i don’t do it, because he said i should’t do it.
and i never saw in the recipes for babys here that you put oil (best would be rape oil) in babyfood.
so how do you do it. do you ever use oil??? did you know that oil in babyfood is good for the baby???
thanks

OK 1) before you confuse people in North America Rape Oil is called canola oil.

Hmmm I don’t know about fat in baby food. Fat is important to babies. Especially fat that contains DHA like flax and fish oils. But that is in breast milk.

My take on it is it shouldn’t hurt even if it does nothing and it may be good. I feed my baby table food (as do many other parents) and that is sometimes cooked with oil… Do what you think is right! Obviously watch your baby to see if it is causing a reaction or something but I don’t see a problem.

Can you put up your links about this? I would love to read them… even if I have to read it by translating it. Thanks

Drs. dont know everything, and cant make up their minds on anything my kids have a huge age gap so everything i did w/ my first one was now wrong and i had to doit the new way. But both my boys very healthy hardly ever sick very smart and i do everything the old fashioned way, so i would judt say ur Dr wasnt sure, or b/c he hadn’t heard of it b4, so he will tell u not to do it prolly for malpractice reasons. Try it, it might also be b/c the oil helps move it thru the digestive tract as their bodies are getting used to solids now
